Mercury -the planet of refinement and mastery of both spiritual and material world
In Vedic mythology,
Budha is the son of Chandra (Moon) and Tara, the wife of Brihaspati (Jupiter). As mercury was born of a forbidden or controversial union, he is said to have inherited sharp intellect but also a tendency to be restless, dual-minded, and analytical.
Being born of Moon (mind) and influenced by Jupiter (wisdom), Mercury represents intellect, speech, learning, and logic.
Mercury’s nature—neither purely benefic nor malefic. It adapts and takes the color of the planets it associates with.
But the most interesting part is mercury is the graha which governs all the remedies and creative abilities of mantras. All the siddhi and mandala are birthed through the creative power of mercury itself.
Thus, Mercury is the one who unlocks the map of the subtle world—the astrologer’s chart, the priest’s altar, the tantric’s chakra map—all flow through Mercury’s power of mental clarity and symbolic speech.
Without a strong or refined Mercury, a person may repeat mantras like parrots—with sound, but no depth. But a well-aspected or awakened Budha allows the mantra to penetrate the layers of the koshas, activating chakra circuits and tattvas.
By praying to Lord Narayana (especially in his Budha form, or Vishnu as the knower of Vedas),
One can awakenShabda Brahma (sound as divinity)
Siddhi of the mantra (resonance with its devata)
Connection to Parabrahma through Vishnu tattva (Narayana is the path to the Supreme in Vaishnav traditions)
